Wedding Reception at the Capitol Hill Club

A wedding reception last month brought me the privilege of playing at the magnificent Steinway at the Capitol Hill Club. Now that we have our own 7′ Baldwin, it isn’t often that I find myself at other pianos of equal or higher caliber than what I’m used to playing at home! This was an exception. I really enjoyed the mellow touch, strong resonance, and overall amazing dynamic depth that comes with concert grands.

Strangely, a little sign next to the piano indicated that was only 6′ 10″, which is clearly not the case. Not wanting to make a complete fool of myself, I didn’t try to measure it in front of the wedding guests, but it looks pretty close to a concert grand (around 9′). Definitely longer than our 7′ Baldwin.

Whatever its length, I enjoyed playing it very much (and didn’t mind a bit when they asked if I could tack on an extra 15 minutes)!
